What we don't like

  • Sometimes ships without a manual

A good home pressure washer should have some of the following properties:

  • Easy to use and maneuver. You want a machine that you can use easily without any complications and that can be moved around with ease. The best pressure washers are lightweight, easy to carry and don't require any special tools or accessories to assemble them.
  • Easy to clean up after use. Most modern pressure washers come with features that make it easy to clean up after use without much effort required from the user's part. Some models even come with an onboard detergent tank which makes it easier to clean surfaces without having to manually add soap or detergent while working on them with your washing gun in hand.
  • Powerful enough for your needs. This is an important consideration when buying a home pressure washer. While there are many pressure washers on the market today, not all of them have the same amount of power and output. Some may be too weak for your needs while others might be too strong for what you require. Make sure you get one that suits your needs properly before making a purchase decision.

How to Test Your Home Pressure Washer?

Before you use your pressure washer, make sure to test it first. This will help ensure that the machine is working properly and won't cause damage to your home or property.

The following steps can help you test a pressure washer:

  • Check the nozzle tip on your wand (the wand is the part of the pressure washer that connects to the hose). If there's any dirt or debris in it, remove it by using an air compressor or blowing with your mouth.
  • Turn on your water source and set it to a low setting (usually labeled 'cold'). You don't want to use hot water because this could damage the seals inside your machine or cause overheating if used for long periods of time. If you have a water softener in your house (which most people do), make sure it isn't on before testing your pressure washer
  • Attach your spray nozzle onto the end of your hose so you can use it for testing purposes. Make sure it's firmly attached so nothing comes off during testing
  • Put on protective clothing such as goggles or glasses
  • Test on an inconspicuous area first and don't go too close.

Final Thoughts

Always use your pressure washer with extreme caution at home. NEVER direct spray at a person or indeed any living thing. It's easy to forget how sharp and powerful a spray of water can be at really high pressure. Choose the right footwear, eye protection and some rain boots that will keep you protected from accidental sprays.
